Firefighter and I met over 10 years ago at the movie theater where we worked together in the concession stand. He had been working there for about one month when I started. At the time we were both in high school and I was seeing someone. That didn't stop Firefighter from asking me out whenever he could. Despite the fact that I was in a long distance relationship with another guy, I did have feelings for Firefighter, but never acted on them as I am a firm believer in loyalty and monogamy.
One late night, in a drunken state at a party Firefighter decided it was time to declare his love for me. So his friends assisted him in calling me at 1:00 am so he could profess his love. It was a little strange... first a long time friend of mine, who unbeknownst to me was a mutual friend to Firefighter, called me and we chatted, then after we hung up, Firefighter called me and told me that he liked me... or rather that he loved me. It was something I will never forget. Of course, Firefighter's friends will never let him live down that fateful night. From that point on we were pretty much inseparable.
Something that complicated things was that I had recently been promoted to a manager at the movie theater and he was still a regular staff member and the rules did not allow for fraternizing. So how better to rectify that then for him to get promoted as well. Once he was promoted we started spending more time together... I helped him shop for new manager clothes...so exciting... my own personal Ken doll!! One night after watching a movie waiting for him to get off of work, he followed me home... and there in my parents' drive way, we kissed for the first time. To hear him tell it, I attacked him.. um I don't think so. I think it was mutual. I remember after I got into the house that I jumped up and down like a little girl. I was so excited.
After that it all starts to meld together. Time really does fly when you are having fun. We went on cruises, a family vacation to South Carolina, a trip to Delaware, New York City, and of course Walt Disney World and Busch Gardens. We have survived firefighting school, EMT school and Paramedic school. We have survived job changes, living together, and my father's passing.
I truly believe we can survive anything!!!!!!
We laugh together, have inside jokes, a secret hand shake and a plethora of memories. I see such a positive and strong future for us!
I love him to pieces! He is my firefighter and I am his princess! ( I KNOW GAG ME!)
