All Hail the Keurig!

My Christmas came a little after December 25th this year. To be precise I believe it arrived on January 6th in the form of my very own Keurig! And not just the standard 3 cup setting Keurig, oh no... Firefighter splurged and got me the mack daddy one with 5 settings! Woo Hoo! I have found the perfect setting and I have no intention of changing it. It makes the PERFECT cup of coffee.

I came home for lunch one day and there it was just sitting on the counter. I literally dropped everything I was holding....including my cell phone and started jumping up and down like a little girl. I don't think Firefighter knew what to do with me at that point.

I have been wanting a Keurig for a while now. I was starting to have a love-hate relationship with my Mr. Coffee traditional coffee pot (RIP dear Mr. Coffee) as of late, and the desire for a Keurig was mounting. The most problematic issue I was having was the all too often occurrence of grounds in the coffee... it's a crime against coffee drinkers everywhere. So the time had come to bid my Mr. Coffee adieu! Firefighter relocated Mr. Coffee to the trash can outside.

Since the Keurig has been around I have been drinking far more coffee than normal. There is no fuss, no muss! You pick your choice of K-cup, or in my case one of the following Green Mountain coffee Breakfast Blend decaf, Donut House decaf and Maxwell House decaf (yes I have to drink decaf), pop it in and press a button and BAM.... a perfectly brewed cup of coffee appears. There is no measuring and no pouring or measuring water or trying to figure out how much coffee you need. The most work that is involved is refilling the water reservoir. YAY for efficiency and cleanliness.

I have to admit that in the first few weeks of having the Keurig I was enamored with all the varieties of coffee at my finger tips and the ease of being able to switch things up. Now when I go shopping at the grocery store I linger a little longer in the coffee section trying to justify yet another purchase of K-cups when my rack at home is almost full. Then I look at the price tag and I swiftly scratch that thought right out of my mind. While the K-cups provide ease and variety they are also a bit expensive, and not great for the environment. To that end I have purchased the separate filter that allows me to use whatever coffee I choose. I used it for the first time tonight and it worked just fine. I do plan on using the K-cups every once in a while but for daily coffee drinking I will use the separate filter.

I am sorry for getting all mushy about my coffee pot, but it is one of those simple joys in life that makes me smile!!!

Do you have a Keurig? Do you love your Keurig? If you don't own one, are you for or against one??
